07 Temmuz 2025 - OTHER Announcements
According to the intergovernmental agreement signed between our country and the Russian Federation in 2010, it was envisaged to establish a nuclear power plant (NPP) consisting of 4 units, each with a capacity of 1200 MW, in Mersin/Akkuyu Field. The construction of all units is currently ongoing and it is planned to put the entire Akkuyu NPP into operation by the end of 2028.
According to the National Energy Plan published by our Ministry in 2022, it is aimed to reach 7.2 GW of nuclear installed power by 2035 and approximately 20 GW by 2053.
In order to increase our domestic industry contribution within our country"s nuclear program, a portal called "Nuclear Energy Supplier Information System (NETBİS)" was established as a joint effort of the General Directorate of Nuclear Energy and International Projects of our Ministry and the Department of Information Processing. This portal is planned to be used as a tender announcement and communication platform in our future nuclear power plant projects, in addition to the purpose of continuously collecting up-to-date information on the capacities of Turkish companies.
It is planned to share the information that will be constantly kept up-to-date with NETBIS regarding Turkish companies with the relevant public institutions in order to increase localization in other energy facilities such as thermal power plants, pipelines, petrochemical facilities, and other power plants, in addition to nuclear power plant projects in our country.
Within the scope of the Paris Agreement, to which our country is also a party, decarbonization of the energy sector by 2053 has become a global goal, and it is anticipated that the share of nuclear power plants in world electricity production will increase. In this context, with the experience gained in nuclear power plants in our country, Turkish companies have the potential to become equipment, material, and service exporters for other nuclear power plants in the world, and it is planned to share the information to be collected with NETBIS with technology owners and EPC companies in order to promote Turkish industry worldwide.
In this context; It is of great importance for local companies to register with NETBIS and update their information when necessary. I kindly request that this article and the NETBIS user guide (which contains detailed explanations regarding registration and information entry) be announced to our companies that can produce goods and services for energy facilities through the industrial registry system.
