An informational letter from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure"s Directorate General for European Union and Foreign Relations states that the General Directorate of Food and Drugs in Saudi Arabia (SA) has launched a service allowing patients traveling to or departing from the country to submit permit requests for personally used morphine-type drugs and psychotropic substances electronically through the Restricted Medicines Platform (COS) or the link (https:cds.sfda.gov.sa).
The letter further states that a circular has been issued to all border crossings, airlines, maritime, and land transportation companies requiring patients traveling to or departing from Saudi Arabia to obtain permits to carry narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. It also informs authorities of the need to verify the permits granted to citizens traveling to Saudi Arabia before their arrival. However, it is stated that the aforementioned service implementation was launched on October 2, 2025, and the mandatory implementation of the procedure will come into effect on November 1, 2025.
