13 Ekim 2025 - OTHER Announcements
Our Union is monitoring the developments regarding road transport in our country. The latest statements made by the European Commission regarding the Entry/Exit System (EES) and the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS), developed by the European Union to digitalize and increase the security of border crossing processes within the framework of relevant international legislation, are summarized below.
The new EES system will enter into force on October 12, 2025, and will be gradually implemented at external border crossings by European countries. Data collection will begin in phases, and full implementation will be completed on April 10, 2026.
The ETIAS system will become operational in the last quarter of 2026. Travelers are not expected to take any action at this stage. The European Union will announce the exact start date of the ETIAS a few months before it goes into effect.
The "EES Information Booklet," prepared for this purpose, is attached and is expected to be useful for informing your members. This booklet contains important information regarding the EES system implementation process, the new biometric data recordings (fingerprints, facial images) at border crossings, and travel planning. In this context, it is important for Chamber members to:
• Ensure that drivers and passengers are informed about the EES system,
• Check passport validity periods, visa requirements, and border crossing documents in advance,
• Make the necessary preparations to adjust their travel plans, taking into account the potential congestion and processing times at the first crossings.
